Brenden Craig for City Court Judge

Experience in the Courtroom, Justice for the People.

Meet Brenden Craig

My name is Brenden Craig, and I’m running to be your City Court Judge with a clear and simple goal: to ensure fairness and accessibility to the people of Baton Rouge. For nearly 16 years, I’ve been on the front lines of our justice system, and I’ve seen firsthand how good people can get trapped by a system that is often confusing and intimidating.

A Vision for Our Court

My Vision

To ensure that the Baton Rouge City Court is an open, accessible, and respected institution, where justice is administered with fairness and serves as a ramp to resolution, not a roadblock, for every citizen.

My Mission

To serve the people of Baton Rouge by applying the law with unwavering fairness, running an efficient and compassionate courtroom, and actively working to make sure citizens can resolve their legal matters with dignity.

Experience in the Courtroom, Justice for the People.

A Husband, a Father, and a Lifelong Member of Our Community

My story is a Baton Rouge story. While I’m proud of my nearly 16 years in the courtroom, my most important titles are husband and father. My wife, also an attorney, and I are raising our three children here, in the same community in which I was born, I have called home for over 37 years. It is for them, and for families like yours across our city, that I am so deeply committed to ensuring our courts are fair, safe, and just.

My roots in this community run deep. I was raised here, graduated Zachary High, and am a proud graduate of both LSU and the LSU Law Center. This isn’t just a place I work—it’s where my family and I live, serve, and build our future.

Experience That Matters
Fourth-Generation Attorney: I come from a long line of attorneys dedicated to serving the people of Louisiana.
Nearly 16 Years on the Front Lines: I have spent my career where it matters most—in the courtroom. I am the only candidate with this depth of direct, hands-on experience in the very system I seek to lead.
Defender of Our Rights: My entire career has been devoted to criminal defense and as a former conflict counsel for the East Baton Rouge Public Defender’s Office, I have fought to ensure that every citizen’s Constitutional and God given right rights are protected.
A Leader in the Community

A Clear Plan for a Fair Court, Guided by Core Values

My judicial philosophy is built on a foundation of principle and practical experience. Here is my commitment to you:

Fairness

The law must be applied equally and impartially, without exception. My courtroom will be a place where we “call balls and strikes,” ensuring a level playing field for all parties. As a judge, my only agenda is justice and the law.

Experience & Competence

A judge should be an expert, not a trainee. With nearly 16 years in the courtroom, I have tried countless cases and possess a deep knowledge of court procedure and the City Code of Ordinances. I am prepared to lead our City Court effectively from day one.

Compassion & Respect

I believe in being tough when necessary, but always fair. Every person who enters my courtroom is more than a case number—they are a member of our community who deserves to be heard and treated with dignity.

Accessibility

Justice should not be intimidating. There are over 100,000 active bench warrants simply for Baton Rouge City Court, which creates problems for everyone in our city. I will tackle this crisis head-on by creating a welcoming court environment. I will work with individuals on flexible payment plans and offer community service as a meaningful alternative, helping people get their licenses back and their lives on track. I offer solutions that will help everyone in our community. Some would argue that solving these problems could even help to lower auto insurance rates.

Constitutional Protections

A staunch supporter of the second Amendment and the Bill of Rights and work to see every day that our Constitutional Rights are protected and enjoyed by all.
